Plant Care Guides
Croton (Codiaeum Variegatum)
P.S. Some things that I forgot to mention in the video are as followed:
Croton's DO NOT like to be moved! When you move them continuously, whether for watering or moving them outside/inside, expect some leaf loss for sure. When Corton's get stressed, they drop their bottom layers of leaves. This is totally normal but if you want to have a bushy Croton, watch the amount you're moving your plant.
Always keep the leaves clean of debris and dust. Honestly, no matter what house plant you have, you should already be doing this. I personally, use a diluted mixture of Castel Soap & water. Be sure to read the back of the bottle for the amount you use per usage. Castel Soap is a natural pest deterrent and helps prevent the possibility of an infestation accruing. Now, there are two (2) sides to your plants leaves. Wipe them both, top & bottom, don't just wipe the top side and forget the bottom! I wipe the leaves generally about once, maybe twice, a month.
The more sun that you give your Croton, the more water it's going to need. However, they will tell you when to water them. Their leaves will begin to wilt and look almost like its dying. When this happens, water slowly until water drains out the bottom of the pot. Fertilizing every 1-2 waterings in the spring/summer and only about once a month, in the winter.
